As a Vascular Technologist, you will perform high-quality vascular ultrasounds. In this role, you will assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of disorders affecting the vascular system and perform non-invasive exams to assess for diseases or disorders. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying 8-hour shifts between 7:00AM – 7:30PM, including weekends. Although the main work location is Martin South Hospital, this caregiver may also be scheduled at Martin North, Tradition, St. Lucie West and Stuart Family Health Center.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Perform carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, aortoiliac duplex, penile duplex and renal duplex.
- Dictate preliminary reports for physicians.
- Consult with vascular medicine physician for interpretation of test results.
- Maintain records of testing for documentation.
- Provide daily account of patient's charge requisition with appropriate ICD9 codes.
- Provide training and act as a resource for vascular ultrasound students, residents and physicians.
- Provide testing for add-on emergency patients.
- Maintain continuing medical education requirements for the appropriate professional organization.
- Maintain files (e.g., product and service quotes), records and up-to-date documents for accreditation of vascular lab.
- Completion of an appropriate allied health program leading to a degree OR certificate in the application of non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound techniques
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or other appropriate national certification OR registry eligible
- Appropriate national registry must be completed within one year of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Advanced training in anatomy, physiology, biology, and physics
- Three years of clinical experience
- Dual registry status as a Vascular and Echo Technologist
- Essential Duties: Interact with patients, families, physicians and other health care workers.
- Good hand coordination for positioning of prove and equipment.
- Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results.
- Physical Duties: Moderate lifting and positioning of patients.
- Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.
- Working Conditions: 100% air-conditioned.
- Moderate risk of exposure to blood or air-borne pathogens.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
