- Manage the implementation and execution of transportation policies and procedures that will provide the lowest landed cost of goods, meeting transportation budget and service requirements including outbound, inbound, and imports.
- Develop, report, monitor and communicate transportation financials in a timely manner, to include but not limited to budget, P&L, accrual and forecast.
- Work closely with the transportation data analyst team and leadership to minimize freight expense while optimizing store service
- Conduct training, enforce policies, utilize systems and optimize procedures as guided by management
- Facilitate the payment of invoices for carriers on a weekly basis/monthly basis for outbound, inbound, and imports freight pay.
- Effectively execute outbound, inbound, and imports transportation financial analyses
- Participate in annual transportation budget in collaboration with leadership
- Execute monthly accrual to a legal, financial and company standard
- Prepare financial statements and reports by obtaining data from company finance and operational systems
- Validate and challenge budget assumptions used by business owners and verify accuracy of the information
- Prepare monthly P&L in a timely manner with appropriate narrative and action items, highlighting trends and opportunities
- Reforecast and delineate variance(s) as needed to capture and report finance fluctuations, allowing for execution of identified cost avoidance opportunities
- Participate in or facilitate annual and spot audits in conjunction with internal audit to ensure procedure compliance with controls
- Represent transportation in company finance meetings, to include meeting facilitation and presentation
- Work with vendors contacts, carriers partners, and operations team to ensure invoices are correct and paid according to contracts for freight pay and detention
- Ensure the proper level of communication and customer service response
- Organize and prioritize workload

- Bachelor’s degree with a major in business, economics or finance.
- 2+ years of transportation finance or financial institution experience.
- Strong mathematical, financial audit and analytical skills.
- Possess an ability to conceive, develop and implement new ideas, procedures and processes whether organically or though staying attune to new technologies and procedures.
- Ability to work well with people at different levels within and outside of the company.
- Strong organizational, administrative, written and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive working knowledge of the MS Office suite, especially Outlook, Access and Excel.
- Knowledge of transportation software applications from a finance perspective.
- Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate a desire to stay aware of and follow new financial policies and procedures.
- Must possess qualities of integrity, discretion and strong ethics.
- Ability to be successful in a changing environment and lead through the ambiguity of change.
- Should exhibit initiative, dependability, and ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Strong operational and financial analytical skills, the ability to think critically and problem solve.
- Ability to write and understand SQL
- Prefer previous experience in finance sector of retail industry and/or large transportation company.
- Knowledge of pricing and contract schemas for LTL, TL, IM, destination, origin, and dedicated transportation.
- Proficiency with Alteryx, SQL Server, and VBA.
