HR Assistant
Location: Westmont, IL (1 Day WFH Available)

The HR Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department in a fast-paced construction environment. This role is responsible for administrative HR functions, recruiting coordination, employee engagement, and assisting with company events and internal communications. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing HR responsibilities with event planning and marketing support.
We’re looking for you to do the following:
Human Resources Support
- Assist with full-cycle recruiting, including posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews
- Coordinate onboarding for new hires, including paperwork, orientations, and jobsite compliance requirements
- Maintain accurate employee records
- Support offboarding processes, including exit paperwork and tracking
- Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures
- Assist with benefits administration and open enrollment activities
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, safety regulations, and company policies
Employee Engagement & Events
- Plan and coordinate company events such as team outings, all staff events, holiday parties, and recognition programs
- Support employee engagement initiatives to promote company culture and morale
Marketing & Administrative Support
- Assist with basic marketing efforts such as social media updates, project highlights, and company branding initiatives
- Coordinate content for internal and external communications (e.g., employee spotlights, event recaps)
- Support administrative tasks across departments as needed
You Have:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in HR, administrative support, or a related role
- Experience in construction or a similar industry is a plus
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic understanding of employment laws and HR best practices
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Creative mindset with interest in event planning and marketing
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Adaptability and willingness to take on a variety of responsibilities
