Location: Parramatta (5 days onsite)
About the Role
We’re working with a growing product business undertaking a major platform rebuild. They’re looking for an experienced Tech Lead to drive architecture, mentor a predominantly junior team, and play a key role in shaping the future of their core product.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll bridge high-level product direction with practical implementation—owning technical decisions from architecture through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and technical direction of a greenfield/rebuild product
- Translate high-level product requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions
- Act as the technical escalation point across delivery teams
- Mentor and guide developers (primarily junior to mid-level)
- Collaborate closely with the business to shape technical strategy and direction
- Ensure consistency in engineering practices across multiple teams
- Contribute to and support the existing product (legacy system) while the rebuild is underway
- Drive best practices in clean architecture and code quality
- Support deployment and ongoing improvements in an Azure environment
Tech Environment
- Backend: C# / .NET
- Cloud: Azure
- Architecture: Clean Architecture (or similar patterns)
- Frontend: Open-ended
- AI Tools: Use of tools like Claude for development productivity, with plans to embed AI into the product
What We’re Looking For
- ~10+ years’ experience in software engineering
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead / Senior Engineer in complex environments
- Strong expertise in .NET / C# and backend system design
- Experience designing and implementing scalable architectures
- Ability to mentor and uplift junior developers
- Strong communication skills—able to work closely with non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working in Azure (or similar cloud platforms)
Nice to Have
- Experience with clean architecture patterns
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or AI product integration
- Frontend experience (React, Blazor or similar)
- Experience working on product rebuilds or modernisation projects
