About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Cost Accountant to join our construction team. In this role, you will play a critical part in tracking project costs, preparing budgets, and ensuring financial accuracy throughout the lifecycle of our projects. This position is ideal for entry to mid-level candidates who are eager to build their career in construction accounting and cost management. The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working closely with both field and office personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Tracking & Analysis: Monitor and analyze project costs including labor, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, and overhead expenses.
- Budgeting: Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate and realistic budgets that align with project goals; track actual performance against budgets.
- Reporting: Prepare and maintain weekly and quarterly job cost reports for field personnel and management.
- Variance Analysis: Investigate differences between estimated and actual costs, identify variances, and recommend strategies for cost control.
- Compliance: Ensure all accounting practices comply with industry regulations, tax laws, and GAAP standards.
- Invoice & Payment Processing: Review and process invoices and subcontractor payment requests for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Collaboration: Partner with project managers, procurement, and other departments to gather financial data, provide insights, and support informed decision-making.
