This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a VP of Engineering in Canada.

This role is a senior technical leadership position responsible for shaping engineering execution, quality standards, and delivery excellence across multiple product value streams within a fast-scaling fintech environment. You will lead several engineering teams while also owning the company-wide quality engineering framework, ensuring reliability, scalability, and release discipline across complex multi-platform systems. The position blends hands-on technical leadership with organizational strategy, requiring deep expertise in software engineering, QA transformation, and modern automation practices. You will work closely with product, platform engineering, release management, and technical support to improve both development velocity and production stability. This is a high-impact leadership role where your decisions directly influence product quality for regulated financial institutions. The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and mission-critical, with strong expectations around ownership, accountability, and technical depth.

Accountabilities

    • Lead and scale four engineering value streams (Banking Core Integration, Business Banking, Vendor Integration, and Account Acquisition), ensuring strong delivery execution, technical excellence, and team performance.
    • Manage and develop engineering managers, tech leads, QA leaders, and senior engineers, fostering a high-performance, AI-enabled engineering culture.
    • Own the end-to-end quality engineering strategy across all value streams, including automation frameworks, testing standards, and release readiness criteria.
    • Design and enforce structured release governance, including go/no-go gates, quality thresholds, and cross-functional sign-offs with engineering, QA, and product.
    • Build and scale a modern multi-platform automation ecosystem across web and mobile technologies, ensuring consistent regression and integration coverage.
    • Lead QA transformation from manual-heavy practices to a quality engineering model, integrating automation, CI/CD, and AI-assisted testing workflows.
    • Partner with platform engineering, release management, and technical support to ensure production issues are systematically addressed and fed back into engineering improvements.
    • Drive engineering OKRs focused on delivery velocity, AI adoption, and code quality while participating in senior leadership decision-making.

    Requirements

      • 10+ years of engineering experience with at least 4+ years in senior engineering leadership roles managing managers and senior technical staff.
      • Strong background in quality engineering, including hands-on experience building or rebuilding automation frameworks in complex environments.
      • Proven experience leading QA transformation from manual processes to automation-first engineering practices.
      • Experience with multi-platform automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or equivalent, across web and mobile ecosystems (Angular, Swift, Kotlin).
      • Demonstrated ability to implement release governance frameworks and enforce disciplined go/no-go decision-making in high-pressure environments.
      • Strong technical depth with ability to engage in architecture design, system debugging, production incident response, and root-cause analysis.
      • Experience driving AI adoption in engineering workflows, including AI-assisted development and testing practices.
      • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional influence skills across engineering, product, QA, and operations teams.
      • Experience in fintech, banking, or regulated environments is strongly preferred.

      Benefits

        • Competitive compensation package with performance-based bonuses.
        • Stock options in a well-funded, high-growth startup environment.
        • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, with full or near-full premium coverage depending on location.
        • Retirement plan with company matching contributions.
        • Generous paid time off, including vacation, health days, and holiday shutdown periods.
        • Paid parental leave for both birthing and non-birthing parents.
        • Remote-first work culture with flexibility and autonomy.
        • Opportunity to lead a major engineering transformation in a high-impact fintech environment.
