This role sits at the core of a fast-scaling financial infrastructure environment, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and reliability of tax operations across a complex brokerage ecosystem. The Product Manager owns the end-to-end tax product lifecycle, from daily cost basis tracking to annual IRS reporting and filing execution. This position plays a critical role in building scalable systems that support multiple asset classes, account types, and regulatory frameworks. Working closely with engineering, compliance, operations, and external vendors, the role ensures tax processes are robust, automated, and deadline-driven. It requires a strong mix of product thinking, technical fluency, and deep domain understanding of brokerage tax requirements. The environment is highly cross-functional, detail-oriented, and focused on precision at scale.

Accountabilities:

    • Own the end-to-end tax product roadmap, including IRS reporting (1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1042-S) and related compliance processes
    • Define product timelines, quality gates, and acceptance criteria to ensure accurate and timely tax filings
    • Manage relationships with external tax technology and data vendors, ensuring performance and SLA adherence
    • Build and coordinate the cross-functional tax season calendar across Engineering, Operations, and Compliance teams
    • Ensure tax systems scale effectively for new asset classes, account structures, and regulatory requirements
    • Partner with engineering teams to design upstream data flows that support accurate tax reporting from the source
    • Define data architecture requirements for tax-related fields, including income types, account rules, and entity structures
    • Design and implement monitoring dashboards and internal tools for real-time visibility into tax reporting status and errors
    • Identify gaps in current tax infrastructure and proactively drive system and process improvements
    • Ensure alignment across stakeholders to meet strict regulatory deadlines and reduce operational risk

    Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field
      • 5+ years of experience in Product Management or Technical Program Management within fintech, brokerage, or financial infrastructure
      • Deep knowledge of US brokerage tax reporting, including 1099 forms, cost basis rules, wash sales, and IRS requirements
      • Hands-on experience managing at least one full tax season in a broker-dealer or clearing environment
      • Strong experience managing third-party vendors and enforcing SLAs
      • Ability to translate complex tax and regulatory requirements into technical product specifications
      • Strong cross-functional leadership skills across Engineering, Compliance, Operations, and Legal teams
      • Technical fluency with data systems, file formats, and reconciliation processes (e.g., IRS FIRE formats)
      • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage high-stakes deadlines
      • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
      • Experience with automation, reconciliation systems, or tax technology platforms is a strong plus

      Benefits:

        • Competitive salary with equity participation
        • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
        • Remote-friendly work environment
        • Home office setup stipend ($500 one-time)
        • Monthly stipend ($150 via Brex Card)
        • Opportunity to work on high-impact financial infrastructure at global scale
        • Exposure to complex regulatory and brokerage systems
        • Collaborative, engineering-driven product culture
        • Career growth in a rapidly expanding fintech organization
