This is a senior, enterprise-focused systems engineering role responsible for shaping how engineering and project data is governed, integrated, and delivered across complex project environments. You will oversee the configuration, optimization, and modernization of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) and Engineering Data Management Systems (EDMS), ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable access to critical project information. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, IT, and digital delivery, requiring both deep technical expertise and strong cross-functional influence. You will play a key role in defining standards, enabling data governance, and supporting cloud-based platform strategies that improve project execution and lifecycle management. Partnering with internal teams and external vendors, you will help drive digital transformation initiatives including automation, digital twins, and AI-enabled workflows. This position is ideal for a systems leader who thrives in complex environments where data integrity, platform architecture, and engineering execution intersect.
Accountabilities
- Lead the configuration, administration, and optimization of enterprise PMIS and Engineering Data Management Systems (EDMS) across multiple projects and environments.
- Define and enforce standards for project information governance, including metadata structures, permissions, lifecycle rules, and document control frameworks.
- Ensure system performance, reliability, scalability, and availability across cloud-hosted PMIS/EDMS environments.
- Collaborate with project leadership to design digital execution strategies, including system architecture, hosting models, and access control frameworks.
- Govern data integrity, security, and compliance requirements, ensuring alignment with audit, regulatory, and project standards.
- Partner with IT and cybersecurity teams to maintain secure, compliant, and well-controlled information environments.
- Manage system integrations between engineering tools and PMIS platforms to ensure seamless and reliable data exchange.
- Monitor system performance, usage, and operational health, driving continuous improvement and stability.
- Develop governance documentation, training materials, and best practices to support adoption and standardization across teams.
- Act as escalation point and trusted advisor for complex PMIS, data, and integration challenges across stakeholders.
- Support digital transformation initiatives, including automation, AI-driven workflows, and digital twin development.
- Engage with vendors to define technical requirements, support evaluations, and guide managed service delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in PMIS, PIM, engineering systems, digital delivery, or enterprise platform roles in AEC, EPC, or industrial environments.
- Strong experience implementing and supporting enterprise engineering platforms such as Bentley, Autodesk, Esri, Procore, Newforma, or similar tools.
- Proven ability to define technical standards, document processes, and drive adoption across large, distributed project teams.
- Experience with cloud-hosted environments (Azure and/or AWS), including system migrations and platform operations.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, configuration management, and secure information lifecycle practices.
- Experience working in regulated or complex environments with strict compliance requirements (e.g., transportation, federal, aviation).
- Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, and data exchange between engineering and enterprise platforms.
- Ability to translate business and engineering needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to influence without direct authority.
