We have NATA accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) coal laboratories servicing all major coal ports in Australia and have significant involvement with the superintending of coal exported overseas, quality control at mine sites / power plants and borecore evaluation. Job Description
Great opportunity to join our Gladstone team as a Casual Coal Technician!
In this hands-on role, you will support the laboratory with a range of coal testing and sample preparation activities, including:
- Accurately performing routine physical coal testing and analysis
- Ensuring precision, traceability, and quality of prepared samples
- Receipting, recording, sorting, and storing coal samples
- Supporting preventative maintenance of laboratory and preparation equipment
- Assisting with shift planning, workflow coordination, and sample logistics
- Working in line with analytical methods, procedures, and Quality Systems
- Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, semi-manual work in an industrial or laboratory setting. Full training and on-the-job support will be provided.
Qualifications
About you:
- Previous coal sampling, preparation, or testing experience is desirable but not essential
- Experience in a mineral laboratory or similar environment is an advantage
- Basic computer skills (Excel knowledge beneficial; G6 experience a plus but not required)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Available to work casual day and afternoon shifts
