Working in a highly field-oriented environment, you will collaborate with contractors, engineers, and clients while exercising strong judgment and leadership. The position offers significant autonomy, with responsibility for managing budgets, schedules, and on-site execution across diverse civil projects. You will contribute directly to the successful delivery of critical transportation infrastructure across British Columbia. This is a flexible, on-call role that combines remote work with meaningful field presence and varied project demands.

    • Act as Ministry Representative and lead contract administration activities on assigned highway and infrastructure projects
    • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety regulations, environmental standards, and contract requirements
    • Plan, coordinate, and supervise field construction activities, including labour, equipment, and material management
    • Manage project budgets through cost estimating, forecasting, tracking, and quantity certification for payment
    • Chair and document project meetings, and produce detailed progress, financial, and status reports
    • Support resolution of claims, disputes, and construction issues in collaboration with project teams and clients
    • Ensure quality systems are implemented, including inspections, quality assurance, and auditing processes
    • Supervise, mentor, and support field staff to promote a safe and collaborative work environment
    • Maintain accurate project records, including diaries, documentation, and as-built drawings
    • Ensure full compliance with applicable safety programs, procedures, and regulations

    Requirements:

This role requires strong field supervision experience in civil or transportation infrastructure projects, combined with technical knowledge and the ability to manage complex construction environments.

      • Degree in Civil, Structural, Transportation, or Construction Engineering, or a technical diploma with relevant field experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
      • Proven experience in construction supervision, contract administration, and field operations management
      • Strong background in highway or large-scale transportation infrastructure delivery
      • Solid understanding of contract specifications, particularly public infrastructure standards and requirements
      • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million-dollar budgets, schedules, and project resources
      • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
      • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills
      • Knowledge of quality management systems and construction inspection practices
      • Familiarity with surveying principles and digital terrain modeling tools (e.g., Civil 3D or CAiCE is an asset)
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent productivity tools
      • Willingness to work in field conditions, travel extensively across British Columbia, and work variable schedules
      • Valid driver’s license required

      Benefits:

This position offers a flexible, field-driven work structure with strong professional development opportunities and competitive compensation.

        • Hourly compensation ranging approximately from $57.82 to $70.96, depending on experience and qualifications
        • Flexible, on-call work arrangement with variable hours based on project needs
        • Remote work flexibility with the ability to be based anywhere in British Columbia
        • Exposure to high-impact infrastructure projects across the region
        • Strong mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities
        • Employee ownership culture with long-term career growth pathways
        • Collaborative team environment with technical excellence and safety focus
        • Access to employee engagement and professional communities (mentoring programs, networking groups, and internal initiatives).
