This role plays a critical part in overseeing financial planning, analysis, and reporting for large-scale federally funded programs supporting emergency sheltering and housing initiatives. The Financial Lead ensures accurate budgeting, forecasting, and compliance across complex contract structures, working closely with program managers, operations teams, and external stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical capability and a deep understanding of government funding requirements, including federal grant and cost principles. You will contribute directly to financial decision-making by tracking expenditures, identifying variances, and supporting corrective actions to maintain fiscal discipline. The role also involves preparing financial reports for leadership and oversight agencies while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. It is well-suited for a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in mission-driven, high-impact environments.
Accountabilities:
- Develop, maintain, and validate cost proposals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual and federal regulatory requirements.
- Prepare financial forecasts, budget projections, and variance analyses to support program planning and leadership decision-making.
- Generate and review monthly invoices, ensuring accuracy, allowability, and compliance prior to submission.
- Track program expenditures, obligations, and burn rates, identifying financial risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Support the preparation of financial reports for internal stakeholders and external oversight agencies such as FEMA or state partners.
- Collaborate with program, procurement, contracts, and HR teams to ensure consistent financial tracking and data integrity.
- Participate in audits, reconciliations, and compliance reviews while maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
- Provide financial guidance to leadership regarding the fiscal impact of operational decisions and program changes.
- 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or program control within complex or federally funded environments.
- Experience working with large government contracts, FEMA programs, HUD funding, or federal grant structures strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting principles for public sector or grant-funded programs.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and financial management tools, with strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Familiarity with federal cost principles such as FAR and 2 CFR Part 200.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across multiple stakeholders and departments.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
