This role is focused on driving strategic growth and deepening relationships across U.S. Federal Civilian Agencies by delivering advanced technology and connectivity solutions aligned with mission-critical needs. You will be responsible for developing and executing account strategies that expand market presence, uncover new opportunities, and grow long-term revenue within assigned government accounts. Operating in a highly consultative and field-based sales environment, you will engage senior stakeholders to understand agency priorities, modernization goals, and operational challenges. The position requires a strong balance of strategic thinking and hands-on sales execution, including opportunity development, pipeline management, and deal closure. You will collaborate closely with internal experts and partners to design tailored solutions that deliver measurable value. This is a high-impact role suited for a driven sales professional experienced in complex public sector environments.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow business relationships and revenue within assigned Federal Civilian Agencies.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts, uncovering whitespace and expanding Lumen’s footprint.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers to drive cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
- Lead opportunity development from prospecting through proposal, negotiation, and close of complex sales engagements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the full product and service portfolio to position tailored solutions effectively.
- Provide accurate forecasting and pipeline reporting to ensure alignment with revenue targets and business goals.
- Partner with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients to deliver consultative, mission-aligned solutions.
- Monitor account trends and provide strategic insights and recommendations to sales leadership.
- 5+ years of experience in technology, telecom, or IT sales, preferably within the public sector.
- Strong understanding of the telecom and IT competitive landscape.
- Proven ability to sell complex solutions and consistently meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Experience engaging with government or federal civilian agencies is highly preferred.
- Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to influence senior and executive stakeholders.
- Proficiency with CRM tools such as Salesforce.com is preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work in a field-based role with significant travel (50%+).
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible to obtain a security clearance and hold a valid driver’s license.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $87,298 to $128,039 depending on location.
