Indexed description

The Institute of Communications and Navigation at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is dedicated to mission-oriented research in selected areas of communications and navigation. The work ranges from theoretical foundations to the demonstration of new procedures and systems in a real environment and is embedded in the DLR programs Space, Aeronautics, Transport, Security and Digitalization.

What To Expect

The Nautical Systems Department at the DLR Institute of Communication and Navigation develops and tests new processes and technologies for land-based and on-board support in ship navigation, among other things. The Multisensor Systems (MSS) group develops robust methods for determining highly accurate PNT (position, navigation, timing) data using various sensors such as GNSS, inertial measurement units and optical sensors such as LiDAR and cameras.

You will analyse various methods that detect faulty GNSS observations and thus ensure high-precision positioning under suboptimal conditions.

Your tasks

  • analysis of various methods for detecting faulty GNSS observations
  • development and application of methods for resilient, high-precision navigation using GNSS in inland shipping
  • evaluation of GNSS data
  • detection of erroneous GNSS data
  • documentation of work

Your profile

  • ongoing studies in aerospace engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or a comparable discipline
  • programming in MATLAB or Python
  • basic knowledge in the field of GNSS
  • independent, structured approach to work
  • ability to work in a team
  • German language skills and good written and spoken English

We look forward to getting to know you!
