M&J Engineering is seeking an Office Engineer to support construction administration on public-sector infrastructure projects, including CTDOT highways and bridges, facilities and buildings, and / or railroad projects. This role is responsible for managing project documentation, supporting contract administration and payment verification, and coordinating with the construction team, inspectors, contractors, and client agencies using established digital document control systems.
Responsibilities
Documentation & Contract Administration
- Review and reconcile daily inspection reports, field computations, and supporting documentation.
- Receive, log, process, and archive project records, including submittals, RFIs, correspondence, shop drawings, construction orders, and estimates, in accordance with project procedures.
- Maintain project files and correspondence using agency-approved systems (e.g., AASHTOWare, COMPASS, ProjectWise, SharePoint).
- Track contractor compliance documentation, including insurance, subcontractor approvals, labor/wage reports, and safety certifications.
- Log and monitor material certifications, testing requirements, and acceptance documentation.
- Assist with verification and tracking of pay item quantities and support preparation of progress payment estimates.
- Draft, log, and track Change Orders, ensuring proper approvals and payment documentation.
- Maintain and update as-built drawings as construction progresses.
- Prepare meeting agendas and minutes, track action items, and assist with monthly reports and project closeout documentation.
- Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, inspectors, contractors, and agency representatives to support project activities.
- Conduct site visits as needed to verify quantities, observe work progress, and resolve documentation discrepancies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field with two (2) years of relevant experience.
- NICET Level II with four (4) years of experience supporting construction administration on transportation, building, or rail projects,
