Job Description
Develops and manages the department budget, employing strategies to promote efficiencies. Supervises staff within the Risk Management department, directing the development and implementation of system-wide risk management activities. Provides oversight to the AHS Risk Services Manager and support staff in the administration of the AHS Employed Physician Program, including underwriting approval for Professional Liability coverage. Provides oversight to the AHS Risk Information Systems Manager and support staff in the administration of the corporate Risk Information Management System, including strategic planning and implementation. Oversees support staff in the preparation and submission of all insurance applications and renewals, including state filings and renewals for the Workers’ Compensation program. Collaborates with the AHS Vice President of Risk Management in risk financing and insurance procurement functions for all lines of coverage, ensuring all insurable risks are identified and addressed. Works with brokers, carriers, facility personnel, and others to ensure timely and accurate collection of data for renewals, completion of insurance applications, evaluation of coverage options, and binding of coverage. Collaborates with AHS Executive Director of Claims and AHS Director of Workers’ Compensation to analyze and interpret claims and risk-related data and metrics, including participation in external benchmarking studies. Works with AHS Legal, AHS Corporate Compliance, and other personnel to review and revise contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure appropriate insurance and indemnity language. Provides executive-level reporting on Risk Management trends for decision making. Maintains current knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations of the states where AHS operates. Participates in the AHS Risk Management Board and Large Loss Claim Committee to identify claim trends and discuss claim resolution strategies. Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have broad knowledge of healthcare and enterprise risk management, risk financing, clinical loss control, healthcare operations as well as regulatory, legal and accreditation requirements of healthcare facilities. Must be familiar with the AHS Liability Trust and all insurance operations and commercial policies covering AHS facilities [Required]
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate (verbally and written), with corporate executives, CEO’s, CFO’s, CMOs, CNO’s, Risk Managers and any other risk management leaders in AHS facilities as well as staff of all levels of the organization. [Required]
- Ability to interpret, analyze and report on risk and claims metrics and other trends for executive decision making. [Required]

- from a 4 year college or university with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in healthcare or enterprise risk management.
- Additional relevant experience and advanced education/degrees are given special consideration
- or other advanced degrees
- Experience in risk financing and self-insurance administration [Preferred]
- Prior experience in Risk Management and/or Risk Financing. [Required]

Pay Range
$110,702.15 - $205,911.28
