About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled React Native Engineer to help build and scale Downstream’s core mobile platform across both iOS and Android.

This is not a lightweight companion-app role. Mobile is a critical part of our platform and operations. You’ll be working on complex, high-usage workflows used daily by contractors, suppliers, field teams, and enterprise customers managing real-world construction and logistics operations.

We need someone who is deeply proficient in React Native and understands how to build performant, scalable mobile applications at a high level. You should be comfortable owning major mobile features end-to-end and solving difficult UX and engineering challenges in a fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain complex mobile applications in React Native for both iOS and Android
• Architect scalable mobile application patterns and reusable components
• Optimize app performance, responsiveness, stability, and offline workflows
• Work closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams to deliver production-ready features quickly
• Develop mobile experiences for logistics, procurement, equipment management, invoicing, project workflows, and real-time operations
• Integrate APIs, push notifications, maps, camera/photo uploads, authentication, and native mobile capabilities
• Debug and resolve production issues across multiple devices and operating systems
• Contribute to mobile architecture decisions, code standards, and engineering best practices
• Help drive the evolution of Downstream’s mobile-first operational workflows

Who You Are

• Strong professional experience building production applications with React Native
• Deep understanding of mobile application architecture, state management, performance optimization, and debugging
• Experience shipping and maintaining apps in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
• Comfortable working in fast-moving startup environments with high ownership
• Strong product intuition and attention to user experience
• Clear communicator who collaborates well cross-functionally
• Excited to build software that solves real-world operational problems in construction, logistics, and procurement

Nice to Haves

• Experience with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) development
• Experience with React Native
• Experience building marketplace, logistics, dispatching, or field-service applications
• Familiarity with offline-first architecture and real-time operational systems
• Startup or high-growth company experience
