The Maintenance Engineer ensures maximum equipment availability, reliability, and safety across Fahams production facilities through preventive strategies, PLC expertise, and data-driven continuous improvement.

ROLE SCOPE
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment availability, reliability, and operational efficiency across Faham’s production and installation machinery. This role is critical to minimizing unplanned downtime, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining a safe working environment. The engineer will own preventive and predictive maintenance programmes, lead PLC troubleshooting and programming, manage spare parts inventory, supervise contractors, and report on key maintenance KPIs across the facility.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop, implement, and own the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedule across all equipment and machinery.
- Apply predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, thermal imaging) to identify failures before impact.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, history, and service records for all critical assets.
2. Breakdown Response & Uptime Management
- Lead rapid response to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Establish escalation protocols for critical failures and ensure uptime targets are consistently met.
- Analyze breakdown patterns and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
3. PLC Troubleshooting & Programming (Mandatory)
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and program PLCs across automated production machinery.
- Maintain updated PLC logic documentation and backup programs at all times.
- Collaborate with OEM vendors and automation teams on system upgrades and fault resolution.
4. Machinery Reliability & OEE
- Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across all critical assets.
- Drive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to extend equipment lifecycle.
- Report on asset performance and recommend engineering solutions for chronic underperformers.
5. Spare Parts Management
- Maintain an optimized spare parts inventory to eliminate critical stock-outs.
- Coordinate procurement of technical spares aligned to maintenance schedules and budget.
- Manage supplier relationships and evaluate alternative sourcing to reduce lead times and cost.
6. Contractor Supervision
- Manage and supervise third-party maintenance contractors on-site.
- Ensure all contractor work meets Faham’s quality, safety, and documentation standards.
- Review contractor work orders, validate completion, and maintain records for audit purposes.
7. Safety & LOTO Compliance
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures across all maintenance activities without exception.
- Champion a safety-first culture within the maintenance team and on the production floor.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.
8. Continuous Improvement & Root Cause Analysis
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on recurring equipment failures and near-miss events.
- Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate repeat breakdowns.
- Contribute to lean manufacturing and CI initiatives to improve overall plant efficiency.
9. CAPEX Support – New Machinery
- Provide technical input on CAPEX proposals, machinery specifications, and vendor evaluations.
- Support installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of new equipment.
- Ensure new machinery is fully integrated into the PPM programme from day one.
10. KPI Ownership
- Own and report on key maintenance metrics: MTBF, MTTR, Downtime %, and Maintenance Cost vs. Budget.
- Produce weekly and monthly maintenance performance reports for Operations and Senior Management.
- Use data-driven insights to prioritize maintenance investments and resource allocation.
QUALIFICATIONS
B.Sc. / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering / M.Sc. in Reliability Engineering or Industrial Automation
Experience
4–7 years in manufacturing or industrial maintenance with hands-on PLC experience
UAE or GCC manufacturing environment; CMMS system experience
Technical Skills: PLC programming (Siemens / Allen Bradley), hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, LOTO
SCADA, predictive maintenance tools, OEE tracking software
Certifications: Not mandatory but good to have : CMRP, Lean / Six Sigma, Safety / NEBOSH certification
Language: English — proficient (written and spoken)
