About the Position:
The Controller will serve as the most senior member of the Finance team. The position reports directly to the CEO and oversees a small team of accountants. The Controller will maintain and enhance the company’s accounting systems, procedures, policies, and internal controls. This role is ‘hands on’ and has direct responsibility for all operational and managerial aspects of the company’s accounting practices including planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, reporting, and all required filings. The Controller will be engaged directly in company operations, serving as a member of the management team.

Responsibilities:
- The essential functions of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage all aspects of accounting function; billing, financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
- Manage and support staff accountants, while playing a direct leadership role in the company’s operations
- Maintain and enhance documented system of accounting policies and operations; benchmark and implement operational best practices
- Oversee payments of all vendor accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time
- Process accounts receivable and collect payments
- Monitor cash and funding balances
- Keep an organized system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and liabilities
- Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports
- Prepare and maintain monthly/quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts
- Advise senior management on financial analyses and decision-making regarding pricing, investments, insurance, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters
- Ensure the reconciliation of inter-company accounts and prepare monthly elimination entries
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciations schedules
- Prepare and organize information and supporting statements for external auditors and other third parties
- Monitor the company’s financial reports with an eye on ways to reduce costs
- Fleet management for vehicles and equipment
- Facility / lease management for all business locations
- Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting regulations laws and rules - state and national
- Very well organized and strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work closely and effectively with all FreeAxez team members
- Analytical ability to develop and implement recommendations for improvement, including new processes, procedures, structure, etc.
- Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel); Salesforce, or other systems knowledge helpful
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in finance / accounting field
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license preferred
- Experience as an accounting supervisor / manager
- Experience as an operational leader who can effectively drive positive change
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing or construction environment preferred
