Title: Accounts Assistant
Location: London (hybrid – 2 days working from home per week)
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 + bonus & benefits
Our client, a multinational shipping group are looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant to support the finance team across a broad range of accounting and operational finance activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to develop their career within a dynamic international business environment, gaining exposure to shipping, trading, and multi-entity finance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily bookkeeping and transactional accounting across multiple group entities
- Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, bank reconciliations, and employee expenses
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Assist with monthly management accounts preparation and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end and year-end close processes
- Liaise with internal departments including operations, commercial, and trading teams regarding financial queries
- Support cash flow monitoring and treasury administration
- Assist with financial reporting, data analysis, and ad hoc finance projects
- Coordinate with external auditors, banks, and other stakeholders when required
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and reporting procedures
- Support process improvement initiatives and finance system administration
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar accounting role
- Experience within shipping, logistics, trading, or an international business environment is advantageous
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and transactional finance processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, proactive, and eager to develop within a growing multinational organisation
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA would be advantageous
