Purpose of the Role
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the full operational and tactical management of the German supply chain in line with the Central Europe (CE) strategy. The role covers logistics execution, close cooperation with Customer Service, and operational support for demand planning, acting as the CE operational arm in Germany.
Core Responsibilities
Operational Supply Chain & Logistics
- Manage domestic and international logistics operations in Germany
- Ensure compliance with CE standards (transport, warehousing, EDI, claims)
- Oversee 2nd leg execution and coordinate daily with carriers and warehouses
- Monitor logistics KPIs (OTIF, punctuality, incidents, claims)
- Coordinate daily with German Customer Service on order execution and issue resolution
- Provide accurate logistics information (ETA, OTIF, incidents)
- Ensure alignment with CE CS processes and escalation rules
- Support customer incident management and handle escalations and major claims with Sales
- Act as the operational interface between German Sales/CS and CE Demand Planning
- Communicate forecast changes, promotions, cancellations, and risks
- Support volume and capacity alignment across transport and warehousing
- Contribute to S&OP / IBP processes and escalate demand-related risks
- Support implementation of CE initiatives (e.g. TMS, EDI, Control Tower)
- Assist with carrier/customer onboarding and process rollouts
- Enforce CE standards locally and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage daily operational relationships with carriers
- Support MBRs, KPI reporting, and corrective actions
- Ensure data accuracy across TMS, EDI, ERP, and claims systems
- Identify operational deviations and performance risks
- Oversee warehouse and cold store execution quality
- Coordinate corrective actions and service improvements
- Act as the main operational contact for local German teams
- Represent CE processes locally; escalate issues and align with CE stakeholders
- 5–7 years of experience in supply chain or logistics management
- Experience in FMCG and/or temperature-controlled logistics
- Solid knowledge of FTL, LTL, and temperature-controlled transport
- Experience working in matrix organisational structures
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- English proficiency at a minimum B2 level
