Position SummaryPerforms, or assists in the performance of, fundamental tasks involving the building and grounds maintenance of substation facilities. Participates in on-the-job training and other educational opportunities in order to attain substation skills and knowledge.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs assignments involving the maintenance of grounds, fences and structures of Hoosier Energy's substation facilities, to include, but not be limited to: Cutting grass and weeds; trimming or removing trees; reconditioning crushed stone surfaces; filling holes and depressions; repairing damaged fences; opening obstructed drainage systems; replacing broken glass; scraping and repainting surfaces; making other minor repairs to structures; operating the necessary vehicles to perform the above; and helping with line work.
- Responsible for the proper utilization, maintenance and security of assigned tools, test equipment, vehicles and work areas.
- Takes notes and completes reports about the completion of assigned tasks, as well as any other observations regarding the status of Hoosier Energy's substation facilities.
- Participates in training opportunities in order to gain a working knowledge of the General Switching Procedures, as well as the functions and layout of the substation systems and equipment.
- Makes recommendations to the Coordinator and Manager, Delivery Services about any practices, procedures, or requirements that will facilitate maintenance schedules; short- or long-range plans, or any other efficiencies or cost improvements.
- Acts in an exemplary manner in order to maintain and promote safe practices and procedures and to participate in scheduled safety meetings and first aid classes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some work experience with strong references
- A demonstrated potential, either through education or work experience, for electrical and mechanical skills; good communication skills; legible hand writing and arithmetic; must qualify for and maintain the appropriate driver's license in order to operate heavy vehicles
- Primarily field environment, may require extended hours
