POSITION OVERVIEW

XDemics Corporation, a recently emerged Caltech spinout, has developed a high-density, natural cell growth technology that mimics how cells grow in the human body. By overcoming longstanding oxygen delivery and cell stress limitations, the platform supports healthier and more efficient production of complex therapies including CAR-T, stem cells, and gene therapies, as well as several adjacencies, including cells for biomedical R&D, HTS, biologics, and 3D culture. We are building a high-performance team to scale sales & sales operations to support rapid commercial growth.


We are seeking a highly organized, proactive Director of Sales and Commercial Development, with significant sales experience in the cell and gene therapy bioprocessing space, who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment. The ideal candidate takes ownership, anticipates needs, and solves problems before they escalate. You bring strong attention to detail, clear communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. You value professionalism, discretion, and accountability, and you take pride in keeping people, processes, and information running smoothly.


Key Responsibilities


Sales strategy and execution

  • Build a clear sales plan that targets priority market segment customer including pharma, biotech, major academic centers and CDMOs.
  • Own the direct sales pipeline from lead generation to close.
  • Qualify, forecast, and manage opportunities with a structured CRM approach.
  • Develop pricing, volume programs, and account plans.
  • Set quarterly sales targets and track performance.


Distribution and strategic partners

  • Identify and onboard regional distributors for RUO cultureware.
  • Build partner incentives, training, and co-marketing plans.
  • Manage strategic partner relationships, including global platforms, reagent providers, and CDMOs.
  • Track partner performance and drive corrective actions.


Commercial development

  • Run customer discovery with scientists, engineers, and procurement teams.
  • Translate customer needs into requirements for product, manufacturing, and applications teams.
  • Support evaluation programs, sample deployments, and technical onboarding.
  • Produce customer case studies and data packages that drive adoption.


Conferences and events

  • Own the annual conference plan for XDemics
  • Manage booth selection, design, logistics, and on-site execution.
  • Coordinate speaker sessions, spotlight talks, and partner events.
  • Track event ROI and feed leads into sales funnel.


Marketing and digital growth

  • Manage website content, SEO, and paid search programs.
  • Build social media activity on LinkedIn and other channels that drive qualified traffic.
  • Develop sales collateral including slide decks, product sheets, application notes, and email campaigns.
  • Run monthly analytics to measure lead sources, conversion rates, and channel performance.


Required experience

  • 7+ years selling in the cell and gene therapy and bioprocessing markets.
  • Direct experience selling cell culture, bioprocess, or analytical products to cell and gene therapy clients.
  • Direct experience converting customers to new product offerings in well-entrenched categories.
  • Experience with establishing distribution channels.
  • Experience running conference programs and digital marketing.
  • Comfortable with C> technical discussions involving mammalian cell culture, viral production, and adjacencies such as protein expression and HTS.


Skills

  • Strong planning and pipeline discipline.
  • Clear communication and clean documentation.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to work across technical, product, and operations teams.
  • Prior experience performing laboratory experiments in an academic or biotech setting.
  • Familiarity with known CRM tools.


Education

BS, MS or PhD in Biological Sciences, Biological Engineering or equivalent degree required
