About The Role
The Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, analyzing, and verifying complex systems involving mechanical, electronic, firmware and software components. The role requires a broad understanding of engineering principles and methodologies, with a focus on ensuring that all elements of a system function together as intended. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing system requirements, and solving problems related to systems design, integration, verification and traceability.
What You'll Do
- Gather and analyze system requirements from stakeholders.
- Author engineering / solution domain requirements.
- Assess system components and technologies for feasibility, risk, technological readiness, suitability, performance, scalability, reliability and security.
- Implement, integrate and verify various systems and sub-system components.
- Troubleshoot system integration issues and provide solutions.
- Design, implement, integrate and verify selected subsystems.
- Design and execute tests to verify and validate system functionality and performance.
- Ensure that systems are compliant with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure that verification and validation provide traceability against system requirements.
- Develop technical and logistical system development plans.
- Work closely with a multidiscipline team including (mechanical, electronic, firmware, software, V&V, and project management).
- Create detailed technical documentation throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements, design, analysis, FMEAs, and other technical reports.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- P.Eng. certification preferred, or eligible and motivated to acquire P.Eng. registration.
- 10+ years of relevant product design experience.
- Demonstrable system / multidiscipline approach to engineering design.
- Firmware development experience is an asset.
- Leadership experience is an asset.
