C++ Application Software Engineer | £65 - £78

We're working with a world-class defence organisation at the forefront of global security technology on this exciting opportunity. This is a chance to join a high-impact team developing next-generation Command and Control systems where your code directly influences sophisticated mission-critical logic.

As a key member of the engineering squad, you will bridge the gap between complex system needs and high-performance software. You'll be working with modern C++ and CI/CD toolsets to deliver a cutting-edge demonstration system that paves the way for future operational capabilities within a virtualised test environment.

The Role

  • Lead the development and testing of application-level software focusing on sophisticated business logic and system-wide impact.
  • Interface directly with internal algorithm teams to integrate, implement, and verify complex transformation logic.
  • Build and extend robust components within an existing software application framework for 12-month initial delivery cycles.
  • Design and integrate seamless interfaces with external simulators and vital sub-systems.
  • Deploy and validate high-integrity software within a sophisticated virtualised testing ecosystem.

What You'll Need

  • Strong professional experience in C++ application development, with additional familiarity in C# or Java being highly beneficial.
  • Hands-on expertise with modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and Docker.
  • Proven experience developing software specifically for virtual environments or high-fidelity simulators.
  • Knowledge of Data Distribution Service (DDS) or similar middleware communication protocols is a major advantage.
  • Ability to thrive in short-timescale projects and turn domain-specific requirements into high-performance code.

What's On Offer

  • Lucrative contract rate of £65.00 - £78.00 per hour with a "Time and a Quarter" overtime policy for hours beyond the 37-hour week.
  • Excellent work-life balance with a compressed 4-day working week (Monday to Thursday) as standard.
  • Long-term stability with an initial 12-month contract and high potential for ongoing extensions.
  • Opportunity to work on prestigious defence projects that define the future of UK national security technology.
