ProspectBlue seeks a Director of Operations for their client in the Newport News, VA area.


The Director develops the team and operations by continuously improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and respect, while ensuring excellent service to internal and external customers. In partnership with functional leaders and external stakeholders, this role sets and delivers production objectives and is accountable for achieving plant targets across all performance areas at the Newport News facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate production in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the company.

• Responsible for managing day-to-day operations within Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Safety.

• Develop plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees through Strategy Deployment.

• Using a Lean Management System, review production costs and product quality, and recommend modifications to production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable plant operation – implement approved modifications.

• Interact with other departments within the company to determine planning changes, priority resolution, and process improvement.

• Interview, hire, and train new employees; plan, assign, and direct work; complete performance appraisals; reward and discipline employees; address and resolve complaints.

• Protect employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

• Demonstrates and actively supports TIDI Products, LLC Mission, Vision, Values, Value Discipline, and Behaviors;

• Collaborates effectively across the company, and actions are consistent with Behavior Expectations.

Education & Experience

• College degree preferred, OR equivalent work experience

• 10 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment

• Business classes or seminars

• Communication classes or seminars

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.

• Must have effective supervisory, planning and decision-making skills.

• Must have excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, policies and safety requirements.

• Knowledge of the ERP system and the relationship of various system parameters to each other.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Power Point.

• Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.

• Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to analyze and write reports, ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and develop charts and graphs.
