Role Purpose
The Financial Accountant will support the Group Finance function across a portfolio of companies, gaining experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, and month‑end processes. The role is designed for a candidate with some prior experience in a finance team who is looking to develop within a multi‑entity, fast‑growing group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for multiple group entities.
- Support month‑end close activities, including journal postings, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving differences in a timely manner.
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and postings across the Group.
Transactional & Operational Support
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice posting, supplier queries, and customer balances.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and cash postings.
- Help maintain accurate fixed asset registers and post depreciation journals.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of the annual budgeting process.
Statutory, Audit & Compliance Support
- Assist in the preparation of year‑end statutory accounts and audit schedules.
- Support external auditors with information requests during year‑end and interim audits.
- Assist with VAT returns and other statutory filings, under supervision.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in line with Group policies and internal controls.
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
- Work with finance systems (e.g. ERP, AP automation, reporting tools) to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, documentation, and controls.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of finance procedures and working papers.
Qualifications & Experience Essential
- Part‑qualified or working toward a recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Some prior experience in a finance team, such as trainee, finance assistant, accounts assistant, or intern role.
- Basic understanding of double‑entry accounting and financial statements.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with numerical data.
Desirable
- Experience working in a multi‑entity or group structure.
- Exposure to month‑end close or audit processes.
- Experience using ERP or accounting systems (e.g. SAP Business One or similar).
- Interest in learning about statutory reporting, tax, and compliance in an international group environment.

- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior finance team members.
