This is a Hybrid position - 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
Position Overview
The Buyer II plays a key role in ensuring smooth material flow and strong supplier relationships that support our production operations. In this role, you will collaborate with internal partners and suppliers to ensure timely purchasing execution, maintain reliable supply, and contribute to an inclusive, high-performing Supply Chain organization. Due to tremendous growth, we have two positions supporting our Starline business unit in Canonsburg, PA.
What Will You Do
- Build and maintain constructive supplier relationships that support quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Plan, issue, and manage purchase orders in alignment with production schedules and material needs.
- Execute purchases within approved sourcing strategies, pricing guidelines, and lead time requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned suppliers and support performance monitoring and improvement.
- Review and resolve ERP/MRP exceptions to ensure smooth material flow.
- Collaborate with strategic sourcing and engineering on product transitions and process improvements.
- Monitor inventory and signals to support service levels while maintaining healthy stock positions.
- Partner cross-functionally to address issues impacting material flow, cash, or operational efficiency.
- Identify supply, capacity, or inventory risks and communicate recovery plans.
- Lead expediting or shortage recovery activities when needed.
- Support supplier qualification, evaluation, and development activities.
- Maintain accurate inventory and supplier records.
- Drive cost‑effective purchasing decisions and contribute to productivity and sustainability initiatives.
- Lead or support supplier business reviews and negotiations.
- High School Diploma.
- Three to five years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with MRP or ERP systems (Infor Cloud Suite/SyteLine preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to analyze information, adapt to changing priorities, and solve routine problems.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement or supplier development.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently or collaboratively.
- Ability to evaluate options, consider long‑term implications, and recommend solutions.
- Commitment to supporting a respectful, inclusive team environment.
- Standard office environment with occasional time spent in manufacturing areas requiring PPE.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
