Our client, A well-established and growing public accounting firm is seeking a Senior Engagement Manager to join their leadership team in Guelph. This is a senior-level opportunity with a clear pathway to partnership for a CPA who is looking to take on a strategic leadership role and manage a diverse portfolio of owner-managed business clients.
About the Role
The Senior Engagement Manager will oversee client relationships and engagements from start to finish across accounting and tax services. This role is ideal for someone who can operate independently, provide high-level advisory support, mentor staff, and contribute to the long-term growth of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Engagement Management
- Manage a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
- Lead engagements from planning through completion and delivery
- Oversee compilation, review, and corporate/personal tax engagements
- Review financial statements, working papers, and tax files
- Provide practical accounting, tax, and business advisory support
- Act as a trusted advisor and primary client contact
Tax & Advisory
- Oversee Canadian tax compliance including T1, T2, and T3 filings
- Identify tax planning opportunities for clients and shareholders
- Support matters related to corporate structure, remuneration, and succession planning
- Manage CRA correspondence, reviews, and audits
Leadership & Firm Growth
- Mentor and develop junior staff and managers
- Manage workflow, engagement timelines, and team expectations
- Participate in business development and client growth initiatives
- Contribute to firm strategy, process improvement, and leadership initiatives
- Demonstrate readiness for future partnership responsibilities
Qualifications
- CPA designation in good standing
- 8–12+ years of experience in Canadian public accounting
- Strong experience managing client relationships independently
- Technical expertise in accounting and tax for owner-managed businesses
- Strong leadership, communication, and client advisory skills
- Experience reviewing engagements and mentoring staff
