Project Lead Developer

(Senior) Project Development Lead BESS

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Working model: 2 days in office, 3 from home.

The client is looking for an experienced (Senior) Project Development Lead to drive utility-scale BESS projects across Germany through the full development lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of commercial, technical, regulatory and investment functions and is responsible for bringing projects through development to Final Investment Decision, before handover into construction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of large-scale BESS projects in Germany
• Take overall ownership of multiple projects through all development phases up to FID
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders including grid operators, authorities, landowners, municipalities and internal teams across Commercial, Procurement, Engineering and Investment
• Support the structuring and negotiation of key project agreements together with the relevant specialist teams
• Manage budgets, timelines and external service providers
• Prepare decision papers and steer internal approval processes
• Ensure a smooth handover into the Construction Management team once projects are ready for execution

Requirements

• At least 5 years of project leadership experience, ideally within renewable energy, energy infrastructure or similar project environments
• Background gained with a project developer, investment or asset manager, consultancy, investment banking or private equity is highly relevant
• Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business, environmental studies, law or similar
• Strong ownership mentality with a hands-on, solution-driven approach
• Ability to lead internal and international teams and take responsibility for complex projects
• Good understanding of regulatory and grid-related requirements is advantageous
• Fluent German and English
