Senior Accounting Specialist

In this role, you will support our VP of Finance with day-to-day accounting and billing functions while working closely with Project Managers and leadership to ensure accurate financial operations, timely reporting, and effective project financial management.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accounting records and support general ledger activities.
- Prepare financial reports and assist with financial analysis.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Work closely with Project Managers to track project financials, budgets, costs, and revenue.
- Perform client billing, including project-based and milestone invoicing.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoicing, revenue recognition, and collections activities.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and handle confidential financial information with integrity.
- Coordinate, coach, and assign tasks to accounting and billing support staff.
- Associate’s degree in accounting with 10+ years of general accounting experience; OR 10+ years of project accounting experience in lieu of an Associate’s degree.
- Strong experience with full-cycle accounting, including month-end close and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel is required; advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis functions is highly desirable
- Experience with project-based accounting and billing is strongly preferred
- Experience in consulting, construction, engineering, or related industries is preferred
- Familiarity with sales or gross receipt tax filings is a plus
- Experience supporting project managers with budgeting, cost tracking, and revenue reporting is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion
- Ability to comply with company drug testing and background check requirements.
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr. Actual compensation will be based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
