Title: ERP Business Systems Analyst (Subcontract at Ark Technology Consultants)

Through Ark Technology Consultants (Ark) and Strategic Resource Services (SRS), we offer custom talent solutions to help our clients meet their evolving technology and business needs. We help effectively match the right technology professional to their organization, recruiting for contract, contract-to-hire, and direct roles. Please note that this is a (contract/contract to hire/direct hire) opportunity with our client and NOT with Ark.

Purpose. Add a hands-on ERP implementation resource who can independently take ownership of business and technical problems, work them through to resolution, and reduce the day-to-day execution load on the ERP Project Lead. This is not primarily a project coordinator role; we need a problem solver who can be given an outcome and determine how to get there.

Role Profile

Working title: ERP Business Systems Analyst

Engagement: Consultant-to-hire

Environment: Multi-phase ERP implementation in a manufacturing/distribution business

What We Need This Person to Do

  • Take ownership of ERP implementation problems and drive them toward resolution rather than waiting for a detailed task list.
  • Work directly with subject-matter experts to understand current processes, identify gaps, and translate business needs into workable ERP processes and requirements.
  • Support solutioning across order-to-cash, pricing, operations, inventory, integrations, reporting, and other implementation workstreams.
  • Help drive customer pricing design and implementation, including business rules, data requirements, testing, issue resolution, and readiness for go-live.
  • Organize, cleanse, validate, and reconcile implementation data used for conversion, testing, configuration, and operational readiness.
  • Develop clear requirements and specifications for Power BI dashboards and other reporting needs; coordinate with development resources and validate delivered results.
  • Coordinate and execute testing/UAT activities, document defects and gaps, drive follow-up, and verify that fixes meet the business requirement.
  • Maintain visibility into open issues, dependencies, decisions, risks, and follow-up items and actively pursue owners to keep work moving.
  • During later implementation phases, assist with and help oversee EDI implementation: requirements, trading-partner/process mapping, testing, issue resolution, and go-live readiness.
  • Escalate true decisions, risks, and roadblocks to the Project Lead with enough analysis to support a decision.

Ideal Background

  • Prior hands-on experience with at least one ERP implementation; manufacturing or distribution experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong business-process analysis and requirements-development skills.
  • Comfort working with both business users and technical resources.
  • Good data skills. Advanced Excel is expected; SQL and/or Power BI experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with ERP testing, UAT, data conversion, integrations, or implementation troubleshooting.
  • Some EDI knowledge or implementation exposure is preferred, but deep EDI specialization is not required.
  • Able to learn unfamiliar systems and business processes quickly.
  • Strong written documentation and verbal communication skills.

Most Important Candidate Traits

Ownership and systems thinking matter more than checking every technology box. The successful candidate should be comfortable receiving an ambiguous problem, identifying the stakeholders and information needed, breaking the problem into manageable pieces, driving the work, and returning with either a resolution or a clearly defined decision/escalation.

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a project administrator whose primary function is scheduling meetings and updating task lists.
  • Not a replacement ERP Project Manager or overall program owner.
  • Not expected to be an expert in every area (ERP, EDI, SQL, Power BI, pricing, etc.) on day one.
  • Not a narrowly defined developer or EDI specialist; breadth, adaptability, and ownership are more important.
