Configuration Control Coordinator

The Configuration Control Coordinator will support the administration and maintenance of project configuration and digital information systems. The role is responsible for ensuring information is accurately controlled, maintained and secured in accordance with project procedures and governance requirements.
The successful candidate will assist with system administration, user access management, data quality activities, reporting, and user support across a range of project platforms. Working closely with the Configuration Control Manager and project stakeholders, you will help ensure project information remains accurate, accessible and compliant throughout the project lifecycle.
To succeed in this role, you should be organised, detail-focused and comfortable working with digital systems, databases and controlled information. You should also be enthusiastic about continuous improvement and delivering high-quality support to project teams.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks.
Eligibility criteria: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
Your team
- Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth
- Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a week
- Support the administration and maintenance of project digital systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain configuration records, registers and controlled information to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance.
- Administer user accounts, permissions and access requests in accordance with approved processes and security requirements.
- Assist with project onboarding activities, including system setup, user creation and induction support.
- Support configuration change processes by recording, tracking and maintaining associated documentation.
- Conduct routine checks and audits of project data, identifying and escalating discrepancies where appropriate.
- Provide first-line user support for project systems and escalate complex issues to the Configuration Control Manager or relevant support teams.
- Support training and onboarding activities for project personnel, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Assist with the production of reports, dashboards and performance metrics.
- Support GDPR, information governance and project security requirements through the correct management of project information.
- Assist in testing new system functionality and recording outcomes and user feedback.
- Maintain system documentation, work instructions and user guidance materials.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to configuration control, information management and digital systems.
- Support the Configuration Control Manager and wider Business Excellence team as required.
What do you bring to the role?
Essential
- Strong digital competency with experience maintaining databases, records or information management systems.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, SharePoint and Teams.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and data.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Experience within defence, infrastructure, construction, engineering or major project environments.
- Understanding of information security, GDPR and data management principles.
- Ability to follow established processes and procedures while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
- Proactive and willing to learn new digital tools, systems and working practices.
- Approachable, reliable and willing to undertake routine administrative and configuration control activities.
- Demonstrates strong ability to learn, adapt and continuously develop.
- Experience in configuration management, document control or information management.
- Knowledge of BIM principles and Common Data Environments (CDEs).
- Experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure or defence environments.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 19650 or similar management systems.
- HNC, NVQ Level 3, A-Level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Relevant qualification in Business Administration, Information Management, Engineering or Project Controls desirable.
