Overview
We are looking for a Lead QA Automation Engineer who is passionate about software quality assurance and test automation.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in web, API, integration, and backend testing, with a focus on application reliability and operational excellence.
Role Summary
Support a strategic Oil & Gas client within Managed Services Operations. Combine hands-on automation, quality advocacy, production validation, incident response, mentoring, and cross-functional leadership. The schedule is Monday through Friday during standard business hours, plus participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation for critical incidents.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute test strategies, plans, cases, and evidence for web, API, integration, backend, and end-to-end applications.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance reusable automated test frameworks and assets.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, performance, deployment, release, hotfix, and production-change validation.
- Analyze failures, identify root causes, and partner with developers and architects to resolve defects efficiently.
- Review automated test code and promote scalable quality engineering practices.
- Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions pipelines.
- Maintain testing documentation, quality metrics, dashboards, and traceable evidence.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support and respond to Severity 1 and Severity 2 incidents.
- Collaborate during service restoration, root cause analysis, and corrective or preventive actions.
- Validate production recovery and deployments while meeting SLAs and escalation procedures.
- Mentor QA engineers and influence automation maturity, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into test scenarios, quality objectives, risks, and status updates.
- Contribute actively to Agile planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in Software Quality Assurance, including at least 3 years in test automation.
- Strong programming experience in Java, .NET/C#, or Python.
- Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, or Postman.
- REST API testing experience using Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
- Strong SDLC, QA methodology, test design, and defect-management knowledge.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL, database validation, Git, and Agile/Scrum delivery.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, stakeholder-management, and incident decision-making skills.
- English proficiency at B2+ for direct client communication.
- Availability for a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting Severity 1 and Severity 2 incidents.
- Preferred: Managed Services, production support, or Level 2/Level 3 support experience.
- Preferred: Enterprise application support under strict SLAs and major incident processes.
- Preferred: Azure or AWS exposure.
- Preferred: JMeter, Gatling, or LoadRunner performance testing experience.
- Preferred: Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, or Datadog exposure.
- Preferred: ISTQB, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or relevant testing and automation certifications
