Test Engineer, Automotive Systems

A global automotive company in Raymond, OH is seeking a Test Engineer to support the development, integration, and validation of advanced vehicle systems.
This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in automotive testing and systems engineering, particularly within ECU development, vehicle integration, and ADAS validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and procedures for automotive components and systems
- Design and configure test setups, including data acquisition systems, and establish test specifications and schedules
- Conduct moderately complex testing activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and repeatability of results
- Analyze and interpret test data to evaluate system performance, durability, and failure modes
- Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions or engineering countermeasures
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to cross-functional engineering teams
- Support design feasibility studies and ensure components meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Lead or support vehicle-level integration and validation activities
- Collaborate with suppliers and global engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve product design
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards, validation processes, and internal quality expectations
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in automotive testing, validation, or systems engineering. Equivalent experience (6+ years) may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with automotive ECU development and embedded systems
- Strong knowledge of CAN and Automotive Ethernet communication networks
- Experience with ADAS or autonomous driving systems testing and validation
- Proficiency with Vector tools (e.g., CANoe or similar platforms)
- Experience in vehicle-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Understanding of diagnostic communication protocols, fault management, and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Experience with test planning, execution, documentation, and reporting
Preferred Experience
- Electrical and EMC validation testing experience
- Experience working with global teams and external suppliers
- Ability to interface effectively with Japan-based teams, including participation in meetings outside standard U.S. working hours
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on test accuracy, repeatability, and validation rigor
- Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional and global teams
- Flexibility to support business needs, including participation in at least one weekly meeting with Japan-based teams outside of standard working hours
Pay Rate: Up to $45.00/hr
Location: Raymond, OH (5 days onsite)
Duration: 12 months + extension
