Essential Duties
- Manage all changes made to computerized set points, control devices, and sensors for optimum energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
- Inspect and analyze installed HVAC control and controller components for needed repair, replacement or calibration.
- Install DDC controllers, enclosures, peripheral devices such as duct temperature/static sensors, filter DP, valve actuators, damper actuators, space temperature sensors, VFDs, etc.
- Assist HVAC/R Manager with providing essential required data to create annual Operation and Maintenance budget and 5-Year strategic Capital Improvement budget for HVAC/R needs.
- Create and implement training modules for technicians to produce direct on-the-job, hands-on experience in DDC system area of responsibility; research and provide HVAC/R Manager with outside training requirements for personnel to ensure continuing education for all HVAC/R personnel.
- Validate controls and sensor accuracy on hydrodynamic and air distribution systems; knowledge of BACnet communication bus and how a logic statement functions from Input to Output.
- Assist in the planning, layout, specifications and inspections on major renovation and construction projects; experience with reading blueprints, knowledge of building codes, and manufacturer’s specifications to properly implement EMCS effectively.
- Organize and oversee the installation, modification, and/or replacement of HVAC/R controls, DDC boards, control wiring, sensors and any other equipment that is used in the monitoring and controlling of equipment.
- Assess needs and survey necessary vendors to provide the best price quotes to comply with the County’s purchasing policies.
- Respond to 24-hour emergency maintenance calls and provide after-hours overtime work as needed.
- Respond to other emergency situations as required including but not limited to: fire, medical, terrorist, bomb threats, and security breaches.
- Ensure compliance with of all applicable County policies concerning: attendance; documentation of work; dress and appearance; hazard and alarms; confidentiality; and licensing and regulation.
- Provide field support to technicians as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Able to read and interpret controls, electrical drawings, blueprints, schematic diagrams, and plans. Must have an in-depth understanding of computerized Energy Management Systems, and able to operate a computer system to set up system operation and make set point and other programming changes. Able to apply safety standards to prevent hazards. Organize and prioritize tasks to be assigned and completed. Perform mathematical calculations. Write work orders and daily logs. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with subordinates, coworkers, contractors, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to sit and stand; use hands to finger motion; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently bend, stoop, squat, lie down, and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds, such as tools and equipment, and must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus and perceive color. Vision may be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. Employee will be required to work in office building and warehouses with standard incandescent, LED, and fluorescent lighting; work in areas of potentially hazardous noise levels; and tolerate inside and outside conditions that include exposure to adverse temperature/weather conditions.
