The Opportunity
UCF’s Office of Undergraduate Studies is seeking an experienced Applications Programmer II to maintain, enhance, and expand UCF Success Pathways and related career-pathway technologies. The programmer will develop secure, responsive web applications; create and maintain RESTful APIs and web services; automate data integrations; and support Microsoft SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and application connections. The technology environment includes C#/.NET MVC, PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a defined, high-impact technology project. The successful candidate will bring strong C#/.NET MVC experience and the versatility to work across multiple systems, programming languages, applications, and data sources. The role is well suited for a developer who enjoys understanding how existing systems work, improving reliability and performance, modernizing applications thoughtfully, and building solutions that are secure, maintainable, and sustainable. You will collaborate with program and technology partners to gather requirements, resolve technical challenges, and deliver enhancements that support students’ academic and career planning.
- This is a visiting and renewable position. Visiting positions are based on circumstances, such as funding sources, which control the length of time for which the position is available. Visiting positions are renewable for up to four years. This project is estimated to last two years.
- This is a Contracts & Grants (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance web-based applications supporting UCF Success Pathways and related programs. Develop responsive, accessible functionality using technologies such as C#/.NET MVC, PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS, while maintaining reusable, well-documented, and maintainable code.
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and web services that integrate applications with internal and external systems. Develop and automate integrations for degree-to-career information, labor market data, UCF catalog career pathways, Pegasus Launch Program resources, and other data sources, including processes for ongoing data updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, API, integration, and website issues. Perform testing, debugging, deployment, and maintenance of application updates while applying secure coding practices and ensuring application security, reliability, compatibility, and performance.
- Develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and application database integrations. Monitor and improve data processing, application performance, reliability, and integrity to support web applications and automated integrations.
- Collaborate and coordinate with the Pegasus Launch team and the Office of Undergraduate Studies to identify needs, gather requirements, align priorities, and support the development and enhancement of applications, integrations, and related technology solutions.
- Evaluate existing applications and technologies to identify opportunities for enhancements, modernization, automation, performance improvements, and long-term sustainability. Research, plan, and test new technologies and development approaches that support evolving program and organizational needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing web applications using C# and .NET MVC
- Proven development experience with PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Experience developing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and application integrations
- Experience troubleshooting, testing, securing, and improving production web applications
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical partners, manage development assignments independently, and create maintainable, well-documented solutions

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,030-$70,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

- This role requires the successful candidate to work on-site at UCF as their primary work location. On-site presence is an essential function of this role.
