Role Overview
As a Commissioning (Cx) Owners Representative, you will provide testing and validation oversight of data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure in existing operational facilities. This role involves managing third-party commissioning vendors and supporting other teams in the retro-commissioning of various critical systems. You will be responsible for resolving technical issues, addressing schedule impacts, and sharing lessons learned to improve team growth and program standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide oversight for the testing and validation of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Support vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in retro-commissioning systems such as power systems, generators, UPS, HVAC, chilled water systems, BMS, and EPMS.
- Review as-built documents, equipment submittals, and commissioning documentation like test plans and scripts.
- Manage third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite functional and integrated systems testing.
- Audit vendor activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements while minimizing operational impact.
- Provide multi-discipline input into the scheduling, design, and planning of retro-commissioning projects.
- Report on retro-commissioning progress and metrics for assigned projects.
- Lead multiple projects simultaneously to achieve key milestones and deliver optimized data center performance.
- Manage project budgets as approved.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in the engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems.
Technical Skills:
- High technical competency in either mechanical, electrical, or control systems utilized in critical infrastructures.
- Ability to understand design concepts by reviewing design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and sequences of operations.
- Capability to develop and review commissioning documentation to ensure accuracy with design requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in high-stress environments.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures.
- Ability to read and edit construction documents such as design drawings and control diagrams.
- Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent.
