Senior System Engineer

About the Role:

PTI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who wants hands-on ownership of the platforms that keep a modern transportation business moving. This role supports and improves critical server, cloud, identity, security, backup, and infrastructure systems across Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Azure, Active Directory, Windows Server, virtualization, and related enterprise tools. The right person is technical, security-minded, and comfortable moving between day-to-day support, complex troubleshooting, project work, and long-term infrastructure improvement.

What You’ll Do:

• Own administration and daily health of Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Azure, Active Directory, Windows Server, virtualization, backup, monitoring, and related infrastructure platforms.
• Strengthen security controls across identity, cloud, endpoint, and server environments, including MFA, conditional access, privileged access, patching, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection coordination.
• Monitor performance, capacity, backups, service health, and availability; identify issues before they become business-impacting problems.
• Provide advanced level 2/3 troubleshooting for infrastructure, business applications, escalated incidents, and complex technical issues.
• Lead or support infrastructure projects, cloud initiatives, upgrades, hardware refreshes, tool implementations, and process improvements.
• Build documentation, runbooks, PowerShell scripts, and automation that make systems more reliable, repeatable, and easier for the team to support.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering, systems administration, IT infrastructure, cloud administration, or related technical work.
• Strong technical depth across Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Azure, Active Directory, Windows Server, virtualization, backup, monitoring, and security tooling.
• Practical understanding of identity security, access control, patch management, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, logging, and incident response support.
• Strong troubleshooting instincts and ability to work through complex infrastructure, cloud, endpoint, network, and application issues.
• Experience with PowerShell, automation, documentation, change management, and project implementation preferred.
• Relevant Microsoft, Security+, VMware, ITIL, or equivalent certifications preferred.
