Indexed description

AlphaGov (Casa Moon LLC d/b/a AlphaGov) delivers public-sector consulting for cities, counties, school systems, special districts, utilities, and related agencies. Our work spans classification and compensation, organizational and operational studies, research and program evaluation, economic and workforce analysis, surveys and community research, and applied data and infrastructure research.

We engage experienced practitioners as project-based collaborators. Engagements are remote-first with occasional client travel. When you authorize it, AlphaGov may name you as an expert collaborator or key personnel on proposals that match your expertise. We build ready teams for live pursuits — not speculative staffing banks.

This opportunity is contingent upon contract award and final staffing approval. Permission will be requested before including a candidate's name or resume in a proposal.

AlphaGov is seeking a Cost Allocation / Indirect Cost Consultant for remote, project-based work with public agencies. There is no guaranteed assignment.

What you'll do:

Support cost-allocation plans, indirect-cost rates, and the narratives that explain them
Trace which costs are direct, allocated, or unallowable for the agency's funding mix
Review the agency's chart of accounts and allocation bases against the plan
Draft or update a central-service or indirect-cost plan the finance office can defend
Identify the documentation an auditor or cognizant agency would ask to see
Contribute methods and past-performance narrative to proposals only when naming is authorized
State the circulars, federal guides, or local policies you used, and do not invent a rate

Apply to be considered.

Requirements

Required

  • Experience preparing or updating a cost-allocation plan or indirect-cost rate for a government or other public agency
  • Ability to explain the allocation base and which departments or funds were included
  • At least one plan or rate proposal you can describe by agency, year, and your role
  • Comfort reading a chart of accounts and a fund structure
  • Comfortable as a 1099 project-based collaborator, with occasional client travel

Nice to have

  • A negotiated indirect-cost rate agreement you supported
  • Experience with 2 CFR Part 200 or a state cognizant-agency review
