If you are an internal associate, please login to Workday and apply through Jobs Hub.Job PurposeThe Director, Investment Accounting directs accounting operations, portfolio reporting, and regulatory compliance strategies. Oversees the accounting, financial reporting, and operational administration of the Company's multi-billion dollar investment portfolio, serving as a subject matter expert on both US GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles, while directing staff to meet department objectives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Directs the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for our investment asset classes, while maintaining accounting policies and practices.
- Develops and maintains relationships with both external and internal business partners.
- Directs the compilation of financial statement disclosures for US GAAP and Statutory reporting.
- Reviews investment transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
- Collaborates with other departments to analyze and recommend solutions for complex accounting, forecasting, and reporting challenges.
- Identifies, researches, and recommends process improvements.
- Directs staff and is responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance and salary reviews, disciplinary action, and termination.
- Directs planning and execution of various special projects as required.
- Ensures accurate and timely completion of all required management reporting.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of investment strategy and practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid PC Skills including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel, as well as experience with investment accounting software.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Ability to direct staff.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- 8+ years of related experience required.
