.NET Architect
Indexed description
We are looking for an experienced .NET Architect to lead an enterprise platform modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in C#/.NET, experience evaluating legacy architectures, and the ability to define scalable future-state solutions. Excellent communication and client-facing skills are essential for collaborating with stakeholders and presenting architectural recommendations to executive leadership.
Job Details
- Position: .NET Architect
- Work Location: Remote
- Engagement: Platform Modernization
- Key Skills: C#/.NET, Python/Django, Enterprise Architecture, Modular Monolith, System Modernization
About the Role
The .NET Architect will assess existing application codebases, define the future-state architecture, and develop an execution-ready modernization roadmap. This role requires a hands-on architect who can evaluate existing systems, identify architectural gaps, design scalable solutions, and translate technical recommendations into actionable plans.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the client's architecture team and present architecture, implementation roadmaps, and cost recommendations to executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities – What You'll Do
- Analyze and profile existing codebases using AI-assisted tools, validate C4 architecture diagrams against live code, and identify gaps and discrepancies.
- Evaluate modular monolith architecture, validate module boundaries, and assess scalability and maintainability.
- Design scalable batch-processing architectures, including parallel processing, partitioning strategies, and infrastructure sizing.
- Assess third-party integration patterns, including synchronous and asynchronous communication, file transfer modernization, and scalable integration architecture.
- Evaluate security and identity architecture, including centralized identity management, role-based access control (RBAC), and audit logging.
- Define the long-term North Star architecture and near-term target architecture while ensuring future scalability.
- Develop an execution-ready modernization roadmap, including phased implementation plans, workstream sequencing, dependencies, critical paths, and staffing plans.
- Create directional cost models and evaluate implementation trade-offs.
- Deliver executive-level presentations covering architecture, roadmap, and cost estimates to client leadership.
Required Qualifications – What You Need
- Extensive experience leading enterprise architecture and platform modernization initiatives.
- Strong hands-on expertise in C#/.NET, including the ability to assess existing codebases and design future-state architecture.
- Working knowledge of Python/Django to evaluate legacy monolithic applications, identify tightly coupled components, and recommend decomposition strategies.
- Experience with modular monolith architecture, including module boundaries, internal contracts, data ownership, and decomposition strategies.
- Expertise in designing large-scale batch-processing systems, including job orchestration, parallel execution, database partitioning, and lock contention management.
- Experience with third-party integration architecture, asynchronous messaging, retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, and file transfer modernization in FTP-heavy environments.
- Strong understanding of security and identity architecture, including centralized authentication, Azure AD (preferred), RBAC, and audit logging.
- Proficiency in C4 modeling, including reading, creating, and annotating architecture diagrams.
- Experience producing modernization roadmaps, staffing plans, cost models, and project execution artifacts.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills and the ability to present technical and financial recommendations to C-suite stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with client-side architects, validate existing decisions, and provide practical architectural recommendations.
- Ability to leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate codebase analysis and focus on strategic architectural decisions.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the financial services or insurance industry.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
- Experience developing directional cost models for large-scale modernization programs.
- Experience with on-premises infrastructure and enterprise application environments.
