Job Description

The Resident Engineer is a highly technical, customer-facing role providing operational support, troubleshooting, design guidance, and best-practice recommendations across large-scale service provider networks.


  • 12- Month Renewable Contract
  • Hungarian Fluency is essential
  • Quarterly Travel to Budapest



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operational support across production and pre-production network environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, routing, and IP/MPLS network issues.
  • Manage vendor support cases through to resolution, including root cause analysis and remediation.
  • Support critical incidents, outages, escalations, maintenance windows, migrations, and major network changes.
  • Assess network health, performance, capacity, and stability.
  • Provide network design guidance and support future technology adoption.
  • Create and review SOPs, MOPs, fault-isolation procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Perform lab testing, design validation, certification, and integration of new hardware and software releases.
  • Track software bugs, security vulnerabilities, and remediation actions.
  • Develop Python-based automation for configuration validation, health checks, troubleshooting, and provisioning.
  • Support engineering teams with the adoption of network automation tools.
  • Lead technical workshops and communicate complex issues to engineering, operations, and senior stakeholders.


Technical Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience designing, deploying, or supporting large-scale service provider networks.
  • Strong Junos CLI experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Juniper platforms including:
  • MX
  • QFX
  • EX
  • ACX
  • PTX
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • TCP/IP
  • MPLS
  • BGP
  • OSPF
  • IS-IS
  • MPLS-TE
  • RSVP / LDP
  • Segment Routing / SRv6
  • IPv4 / IPv6
  • L3VPN / VPLS / MVPN
  • EVPN
  • QoS / Class of Service
  • Ethernet / 802.1Q
  • Broadband / BNG
  • Python and Juniper PyEZ scripting experience.
  • Traffic engineering / traffic steering experience, including Paragon or equivalent.
  • Experience designing and integrating network automation solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting, customer-facing, and technical communication skills.
  • JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certifications are desirable.
