We’re partnering with a market-leading, fast-growing employee benefits and financial services business as they continue to invest in and scale their technology function.

They’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to play a key role in shaping their engineering capability, architecture and technology direction.

The Role

As the Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Shaping and influencing the organisation’s technical vision and engineering strategy
• Mentoring and developing senior engineers, helping raise technical capability across the team
• Driving the adoption of AI-assisted development and modern engineering practices across the organisation
• Leading complex, cross‑functional initiatives and defining scalable software architectures
• Providing technical mentorship, establishing best practices and championing engineering excellence
• Hands-on full-stack engineering, contributing across both front-end and back-end development while helping solve complex technical challenges.
• Collaborating with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions
• Influencing hiring decisions and helping shape a high‑performance engineering culture

What You'll Bring

You must have this experience to be successful in the role:

• 10+ years software engineering experience with 3+ years in technical leadership
• Expert-level .NET expertise, with strong experience designing and building scalable applications
• Strong TypeScript and React.js experience, with a hands-on approach to full-stack development
• Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), SQL Server, Redis and observability tools (Datadog, LaunchDarkly)
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale, distributed systems and driving process improvements
• Strong communication, collaboration and problem‑solving skills
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted dev tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude) and LLM API integration
