Senior Director - Technical Sales

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a global technical sales strategy aligned with corporate objectives, product categories, and regional markets.
- Lead and mentor high-performing technical sales teams, including managers and directors, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth.
- Partner cross-functionally with sales, finance, marketing, and engineering to drive revenue growth and operational excellence.
- Communicate with Engineering, Applications Engineering, Marketing, Category Management, Supply Chain Services, and Quality Assurance functions of any product problems, opportunities, software bugs or emerging customer needs.
- Achieve sales and profitability targets by identifying new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and market expansions.
- Build and maintain executive relationships with key customers and partners to strengthen loyalty and long-term growth.
- Champion innovation by integrating customer insights and market intelligence into product and go-to-market strategies.
- Deliver compelling presentations to C-suite audiences and represent the company at industry events and tradeshows.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and performance metrics, including pipeline development, to ensure sustained market leadership and strategic agility.
- Bachelors Degree - Engineering, Business or related field required; Masters Degree preferred
- 12 years experience in technical sales with strong technical acumen
- 12 years experience managing strategic partnerships
- 5 years or more of experience leading a sales team multiple direct reports including manager level employees
- Possess a customer-centric mindset
- Knowledge of industry trends with a focus on using insights to drive technical sales strategies
- Ability to spot new business opportunities and quickly evaluate opportunities.
- Ability to initiate and develop relationships with key decision makers both inside and outside company.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong business analysis skills
- Experience collaborating across departments
- Knowledge of industry including suppliers, customers, and competitors preferred
- Knowledge of Wesco’s existing business lines, strengths and challenges preferred
- Ability to identify and cultivate external resources preferred
- Ability to travel 25% - 50%
- Work is generally performed in an office environment, but employee may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities. Driving may be required for an extended period of time with frequent stops and starts. Can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- Employee required to sit and drive a vehicle to perform their job.
This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.
For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
