Position: Test Automation Engineer – Edge Device (Gateway) & API Testing

Location: Kalamazoo, MI (Onsite)

Role Overview

The client's R&D team is automating existing manual test procedures for its Edge Device (Gateway) module used on its connected bed platform. The engineer will convert these manual test cases into automated test suites within the client's Python-based test framework, covering both protocol-level (CAN) and API-level (HTTP, SOAP, ReadyAPI) test automation, and will integrate the resulting test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions / runners.

Key Responsibilities

• Automate existing manual test cases for the Edge Device (Gateway) platform using Python and PyTest
• Develop and maintain API test suites using ReadyAPI, covering SOAP web services and HTTP-based APIs
• Implement and validate tests involving the CAN communication protocol on embedded/edge hardware
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions / GitHub runners
• Collaborate with the client's Acute Care R&D test engineering team to prioritize and validate test coverage
• Document test results and maintain clean, reusable test automation code.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software/hardware test automation
• Strong proficiency in Python and PyTest
• Hands-on experience with ReadyAPI and API testing (SOAP web services, HTTP protocol)
• Working knowledge of the CAN communication protocol
• Direct, hands-on experience testing Edge Devices / embedded hardware products — this is not a pure software/IT testing role
• Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, specifically using GitHub Actions / runners.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

• Wi-Fi and RF test experience.
