Associate Director, Cyber Operations – Cyber Response and Digital Forensics

KPMG is currently seeking an Associate Director, Cyber Operations – Cyber Response and Digital Forensics to join our Enterprise Security Services organization.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead incident handler and direct end-to-end investigations of high-severity cyber events and translate complex technical findings into defensible post-incident reports and concise, high-impact briefings for C-suite leaders
- Conduct disk, volatile memory, log, and network packet analysis across Windows, Linux, and multicloud environments, including Azure, AWS, and GCP, to reconstruct attack timelines and determine root cause, and advise executive and legal leaders during active breaches
- Convert forensic findings into immediate countermeasures, such as custom EDR blocks, firewall rules, and network segmentation controls, to contain threats and prevent lateral movement
- Propose, build, and scale automated triage workflows, Python and PowerShell forensic scripts, custom YARA rules, and EDR and SIEM detection content to improve operational efficiency
- Supervise and mentor junior (forensic) analysts, lead proactive tabletop exercises, and strengthen standard operating procedures and engagement quality reviews
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
- Minimum eight years of recent, dedicated, hands-on experience in digital forensics, incident response, or threat hunting within an enterprise or professional consulting environment; active hold recognized industry certifications, such as GIAC (GCFA, GCFE, GNFA, GCIH), EnCE, CFCE, or CISSP
- Proven expertise using enterprise forensic tools (for example, EnCase, FTK, Axiom, X-Ways, Volatility) and SIEM/EDR platforms (for example, CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Splunk)
- Experience leading multiple, complex, and high visibility cybersecurity incidents in a large-scale federated environment
- Subject matter expert in investigating cybersecurity incidents in networking, multi-cloud, on-premise, AI, virtualization, and SAAS/PAAS/IAAS. Proven track record in mentoring DFIR analysts in developing skillsets
