Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite
Contract: 12-month initial contract

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Platform Engineer to join a major financial services organisation in Budapest on an initial 12-month contract.
This is a senior infrastructure/platform engineering role focused on Linux, automation, scripting, CI/CD and the development and reliability of large-scale technology platforms.
You will work in a highly technical environment, responsible for deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting and continuously improving critical platforms. The role combines hands-on engineering with automation and DevOps practices, working closely with development, infrastructure and security teams.
The Role
You will be responsible for the development, deployment and ongoing reliability of large-scale platforms, with a strong focus on automation, resilience and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Building, deploying, maintaining and optimising large-scale technology platforms.
- Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues across Linux-based infrastructure.
- Developing Python and/or Shell scripts to automate operational and engineering processes.
- Designing and maintaining automation using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Working with CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins and Git.
- Investigating system errors, performance issues and infrastructure problems.
- Collaborating with development teams to improve platform architecture, resilience and reliability.
- Supporting the deployment and modification of platform components across the environment.
- Identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and improve engineering efficiency.
- Contributing to initiatives focused on security, availability, reliability and performance.
- Working with senior technical stakeholders and engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
- Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery activities.
- Applying good engineering practices to the design, deployment and ongoing operation of critical infrastructure.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps or Systems Engineer with strong Linux and automation skills.
You should have:
- 5+ years' experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, systems engineering or a similar technical environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux / Unix, ideally Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS.
- Strong scripting skills using Python and/or Shell/Bash.
- Experience with automation and configuration management, particularly Ansible.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Jenkins and Git.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform or similar technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills within Linux environments.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and common network protocols.
- Understanding of security fundamentals such as TLS, certificates and encryption in transit.
- Experience working closely with development teams in a DevOps or platform engineering environment.
- A proactive approach to improving reliability, automation and operational efficiency.
Identity Experience – Desirable, Not Essential
The platform you will be working with supports enterprise identity services at significant scale, so previous experience with identity technologies would be advantageous.
However, direct identity experience is not required.
Experience with any of the following would be a bonus:
- Ping Identity / Ping Directory
- ForgeRock
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD
- LDAP
- SCIM
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
Candidates with a strong background in Linux, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, scripting and CI/CD are encouraged to apply even if they have never worked directly with these identity technologies.
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, business-critical technology platforms within a major financial services environment.
You will be working on systems operating at significant scale, with the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to automation, reliability, resilience, security and performance.
The role would suit a senior engineer who enjoys building, improving and troubleshooting platforms, rather than simply operating them, and who wants to work in a technically demanding environment alongside experienced infrastructure and development teams.
