Location — We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, ME, MA, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option.
- Onsite interviews may be required for this role.**
- Design and build the API layer that powers our product's data experience — REST and/or GraphQL endpoints.
- Java backend development to expose data-driven insights and scoring to the product surface.
- Build and maintain React-based UI components for dashboards and workflows — think forms, toggles, and status indicators rather than highly designed interfaces.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews as we take this product from early-stage to general availability.
- Troubleshoot production issues across the technical stack using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Participate in code reviews, document processes thoroughly, and contribute to cross-team initiatives as the team scales. Other duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Java software development for product applications, or equivalent. Kotlin experience is a plus but not required.
- 2+ years of experience with React for front-end development; comfortable in building UI components (forms, toggles, basic interactions) is expected — this is not a design-system-owner role.
- 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
- Experience leveraging AI tooling to accelerate software development.
- Working knowledge of a breadth of OOP design principles; expertise in scaling data structures and object-oriented design.
- Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development. GraphQL or gRPC is a plus.
- Comfortable writing and troubleshooting SQL.
- Relational database design and development experience.
- Exposure to distributed/streaming data concepts is a plus, not a requirement.
- Expert knowledge of quality testing practices, including front-end testing frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
