Indexed description

We're a Belgrade-based company that uses software to solve real business challenges. We take the time to understand our clients' businesses properly, and that's what lets us find and build solutions that actually fit their market. We're proud of what we create and we love doing it, and the trust our clients give us is something we've earned that way.

About the project

We're working with North American partners from the veterinary industry to build a big data analytics platform. It makes heavy use of cloud services to support distributed, auto-scaling processing and use of large amounts of data. We're looking for someone to join the team and help us take it further.

You will join a large-scale data integration program for a major company in the veterinary sector. The platform connects tens of thousands of veterinary clinics and brings their data into one central system.

Every clinic runs on its own software, with its own data model, quirks and history. The job is to get that data out reliably, make sense of it, and import it at scale without losing or corrupting records along the way.

What makes it challenging

  • Scale: tens of thousands of data sources, high record volumes, and a mix of continuous syncing and large historical imports
  • Variety: many different source systems and APIs, each with its own formats, limits and failure modes
  • Data quality: duplicates, missing fields, inconsistent formats, and edge cases that only appear at volume
  • Reliability: imports must be idempotent, resumable and fully traceable, so a failure halfway through a large job never means starting over
  • Correctness: mapping and validation rules that let the central system trust every record it receives

The role

We are hiring two .NET backend engineers, one Medior and one Senior, for a long-term engagement. You will work on a mature, business-critical platform with many third-party integrations, alongside an established engineering team.

This is not a role where you wait for tickets. The codebase is large and already has owners, so we need people who get up to speed fast, earn trust through the quality of their work, and are confident enough to raise problems and defend technical decisions with evidence.

What you'll do

  • Design, build and maintain backend services and REST APIs in C# and ASP.NET Core
  • Own third-party integrations end to end: authentication, data mapping, error handling, retries and monitoring
  • Learn an existing codebase quickly and become a go-to person for parts of it
  • Work directly with US-based engineers and stakeholders every day, in English
  • Take part in code reviews, design discussions and production support

What we expect

  • Strong C# and modern .NET (.NET 6+), ASP.NET Core Web API
  • Real production experience consuming and exposing REST APIs, including OAuth2/token auth, webhooks, rate limits, idempotency and failure handling
  • Good SQL (SQL Server or PostgreSQL)
  • Automated testing as a habit (xUnit/NUnit, integration tests)
  • Git, CI/CD and cloud environments (Azure or AWS)
  • Fluent written and spoken English, and the confidence to disagree in a meeting with people more senior than you
  • Based in Serbia

Medior (3+ years)

  • 3+ years of professional .NET backend development
  • Has shipped and supported integrations in production, not only built them
  • Works independently on defined features and asks sharp questions on unclear ones

Senior (6+ years)

  • 6+ years of backend development, most of it in .NET
  • Has owned the design of services or integrations, not only implemented them
  • Experience with messaging and async processing (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar)
  • Can read an unfamiliar legacy system, map how it really works, and propose a safe path to improve it
  • Comfortable representing the team in technical discussions with the client and holding a position under pushback

Nice to have

  • Event-driven architecture, Kafka
  • Docker, Kubernetes
  • Observability tooling (Application Insights, Datadog, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • E-commerce, veterinary, pharmacy or healthcare domain experience
  • Previous embedded work with US clients
