Senior Backend Engineer (Python) | Design Large-Scale Data Platforms

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to help design, build, and evolve the backend systems that support a rapidly growing global data platform.

This position focuses on system architecture, backend development, API design, database engineering, and cloud-based distributed systems. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure solutions while contributing to technical strategy and long-term platform growth.

Responsibilities

・ Design and develop scalable backend architectures for data-intensive web applications

・ Build and maintain APIs supporting data discovery, management, and delivery workflows

・ Design secure and reliable integrations with internal and external systems

・ Optimize database structures, performance, and data processing workflows

・ Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions

・ Improve system reliability through testing, monitoring, and engineering best practices

・ Participate in architectural discussions and technical decision-making

Requirements

・ Strong professional software development experience using Python

・ Experience building web applications and backend services

・ Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases

・ Knowledge of software testing and qualityassurance methodologies

・ Experience designing APIs and distributed systems

・ Business-level English communication skills

・ GraphQL experience

・ Cloud-native application development experience

・ Container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

・ Serverless architecture experience

・ Database optimization and performance tuning

・ AWS experience, including messaging and event-driven architectures

Salary

JPY 6,000,000 - 9,000,000 depending on experience and skills.
